Forests and Me!
There is a link between the forests and me,
But I dwell on the eternal question, Who Am I?
Am I a Lion, Roaring and raging in the wild,
Then the forest is my home and the trees are my roof
Or am I a rabbit, timid and mild
So the shrubs are my guard from predators aloof
But perhaps I am a monkey, without worry or strife.
The branches of trees are my anchors to life.
No, now I remember, I am Man, giving commands
So the forests are the keys to my survival.
Then why do I see such carnage,
With the trees chopped down in hordes,
And a multitude of animals slaughtered,
Some for sport, others for food, but above all, for Human DEVELOPMENT
Man says that forests are a waste of space,
And hacks them down, And yet,
He builds a lodge in the depths of the same
To shroud the scorching sun and to be one with nature.
Oh! What a paradoxical Life we lead.
Knowing all there is to be known and yet…………..
In spite of Knowledge, we do nothing
And this will lead to the End of Everything

Forest and Me - K.E. Srivatsav
Forests and me …
By K.E.Srivatsav
Oh! Mighty Forests!
Reveal to me thy distress
talk to me reverend soul
tell me the ones who are foul
I am angry young one
at the human who points me the gun
After all from me he has got
contended he is ever not
I share his sorrow, I share his victories
in my shade he longs to regain peace
a song of melancholy strain
I provide the saddened in times of rain
He comes, he sees, he cuts
his rock hard heart never gives way for buts
along with me he takes away a part of nature
oh! what a foolish and greedy creature!
Oh! resilient forests
elucidate thy wisdom
talk to me patient lord
of thy role in nature's yard
clever indeed young boy
you use me and ask me my use
after 200 years, my roots penetrate into the deepest abyss
these roots of wisdom shall never cease me to tell my service
I blow the gentle breeze of life
I permit the wonder liquids percolation
I hold the soil together
for many a generation
we live to bloom
we grow to feed
we age to lose
we die to provide life
oh! majestic forests
I have learnt thee selflessness
for in preserving your kind
we save the hordes of mankind…
